Project overview: Students take on the role of an entrepreneur by creating a product to market at the local farmer’s market. The students will understand concepts of a market economy and it’s impacts on lives. Students will create written reflections explaining how their product can impact the economy in NC. The project will include fate cards that present real life problems (cost of supplies increasing, weather conditions preventing the opening of the farmer’s market, cost of gas decreasing). Students will create a variety of products throughout the project for formative assessment as well as a culminating activity.
Driving Question: What do I need to know as entrepreneur to create a marketable product at a local Farmer’s Market?
Content: local and state market economy, reading informational text (web and brochures), writing to inform and persuade, business planning (math)
